Dr. Gardner C. Taylor, born in 1918, is a graduate of Leland College and the Oberlin Graduate School of Theology. Named “Dean of African American Preachers†by <i>Time</i> magazine, he served the Concord Baptist Church of Brooklyn as its senior pastor for 42 years. Dr. Taylor is the author of several books, including the six-volume series, <i>The Words of Gardner Taylor.</i> Having had a prolific ministry as a clergyman and advocate for social justice, he and his wife, Phillis, reside in Raleigh, North Carolina.
